The web isn’t social. You are.
Here are my top 5 reasons why you should consider being more active on the social web.
1 – You Will Be More Employable
Being a manager myself I can confirm that the first thing we all do when we receive a resume is to go check this person’s online profile or “brand”. If I can’t find you, I will be less likely to hire you.
2 – You Will Make Better Choices
You will be able to connect with experts, professionals or just friends to help and give you advices when you have a decision to make.
3 – You Will Learn So Much (For FREE!)
I basically learned all the things I know about photography through interactions I’ve had with people in online communities. You can do the same with any topics.
4 – You Will Be Informed First
Remember when we used to get the news from… the news? well those days are over my friends. Being active on the social web will enable you to discover whats happening anywhere in the world in real-time.
5 – It Will Change The Way You Interact Offline Too
You will become more curious in your day to day life. Connecting with another human being is one of the greatest feeling we can experiment as “social animals”.
Remember the web isn’t social. You are.
What are the reasons why you are (or not) active on the social web? How does it impact your life?
Videocast_06 | Sharing a cool blog post
Quick vid talking about http://www.digital-photography-school.com/ a great website for anyone interested in photography.
After doing this video I decided to create my own Facebook Page dedicated to my photography activities. Yeah! I’ll let you know how it goes!
Do you have/use a fan page for your photography activities? is it successful?
Boya!
blogging for nothing?
Remember when blogging/podcasting was just for fun? just to share thoughts around various subjects with no need to be niche or to have a marketing goal? Not caring about how many comments, followers, or Google ad clicks you would get. I sometimes miss those days. Actually, I was having lunch today with someone and we were talking about that time and it remembered me of an old 2005 post that M-C Turgeon wrote about 10 reasons to blog (in French). You would found things like: To get to know you better or To be a better person. I don’t think you would see stuff like that in a recent “why blogging” 101 book.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the web as it is today and I embrace the evolution of the medium and how it’s a more intelligently structured beast that we are playing with, but I just miss the time when we were doing it just because we were geeks that wanted to share a piece of our World with the Wide Web…
That being said, I want to know why you are still blogging? or why you stopped?
Go Pink. Pass it on.

This is the latest campaign I’ve worked on @ my day job. Will we reach 500 000 people to turn their profile pics pink on Facebook during the month of October? I don’t know, but one thing I know is that we need to support this cause and I’m really proud that my company is taking it really seriously.
Hey, we are all in this together, right?
BTW, more than 245 000 people have already gone pink, have you?
Do it here: Go Pink. Pas it on.
